9 questions that move a website review forward

By Piotr, founder of Voicedot

Pick the questions that fit this round. A few focused questions can give you a task to check or a decision to make. You do not need all nine.

The examples are teaching material, not findings from a completed user study.

Understanding the offer

1. What do you think this page is offering?

Let them explain first. Listen for the service, audience and outcome they understood. If that differs from your intent, investigate the words before adding more.

2. Which part of the offer would you need explained?

Ask them to point to what is missing. “I cannot tell whether setup is included” gives you more to work with than “the page is confusing.”

3. Does anything here describe your business incorrectly?

Clients know their own services. Ask them to catch errors in scope, terms or conditions that the brief may not have covered.

Finding the next step

4. What would you do next from this page?

Ask them to show you. That helps distinguish a hard-to-find action from an offer they do not want.

5. What did you expect after selecting that option?

Ask after a specific interaction. Keep the chosen option and expected result together so the team knows what to check.

6. Is there a point where you would stop to ask someone a question?

Ask what they would ask and where. Payment concerns, unfamiliar words and unclear dates need different answers.

Preparing the next change

7. What needs to be correct before you can share this page?

Find the details that matter to the business. Ask why they matter, so the latest comment does not automatically become the priority.

8. Which comment needs a decision from another person?

Find dependencies before handing work over. A package change may need a decision from whoever owns the offer.

9. After this change, what should be different for the reader?

Ask what the edit should achieve. “Use a larger heading” proposes a fix. “Show that this is for existing customers” explains what the fix needs to do.

A short set for one round

Text template
For this review, please answer:

1. What do you think the page offers?
2. Which part would you need explained?
3. What would you do next?

Point to the relevant part of the page when you leave a comment.
Tell us what you expected; you do not need to design the solution.

Use this as a starting set, not a mandatory script. For an existing product flow, switch to a specific task and use the onboarding feedback guide.

Use the answer to make a decision

Keep the answer separate from your interpretation. It may reveal unclear wording, the wrong audience or an internal decision that still needs to be made.

Understand what is behind the request before choosing the edit. See examples of clearer comments and the full review process.
